TATI x OATA Art Hive #2. 2025.

Art Therapists Connecting and Creating in Community.

In July TATI and OATA community members gathered together for the second hybrid art hive at the beautiful TATI location. Summer sunshine, a caring community, and thoughtful prompts guided and inspired this imaginative group. The photo collages below capture glimpses into the varied mixed media explorations of the recent hive theme.

OATA x TATI Collective Care and Facilitation.

For the summer hive Patricia, Kristina, Susan, Stefanie and I were joined by TATI student facilitators Bailey, Zack, Fern and Lucille to provide inspiration and prompts, prep assistance and to create the welcoming ‘pop-up’ art hive space.

TATI students Nicole and Monica provided online support, and Stefanie from OATA facilitated a breakout room to engage creators in the virtual space.

So grateful for everyone who joined us and shared your gifts of creativity. Stay tuned for announcements about our next October in-person art hive and online arts-making group! Special thanks to TATI students Bailey, Fern, Zack, Lucille, Nicole and Monica for the engaging and welcoming facilitation of both the in-person and online spaces, and Sheridan summer intern Elisa for the dynamic poster design! Much appreciation for TATI instructor April and OATA Education Chair Susan for the enthusiastic support!

Creative Prompts and Inspiration. Bailey. Fern. Zack.

During the art hive Bailey shared her poem “Questions for A Crab” for inspiration. Caring was woven into each verse in her ‘crab’ wonderings and gentle inquiries….

Zack posed the question to the community: "In what ways do you carry your idea of "home" with you everywhere you go?

Through a slide presentation he shared images based of one of the older symbols for Cancer, The Turtle, and also cancer's symbolic connections to home (a prompt that landed with many in their creative explorations)…

Fern shared her personal perspective and experience of being born in the Sign of Cancer, including her compatibility with other Signs ~ those that she is drawn to.

Wearing industrial overalls, that brandished an embroidered sign that said “crabby” we were particularly smitten with Fern’s learned warmth, and inclusive take on living into the sign of Cancer.

Gracious thanks everyone, for generating such positive vibes and prompting our collective care in community! Just taking some time to savour reciprocal pleasures that were tangible and literally buzzing in-situ and online ~ all very much appreciated. OATA extends particular thanks to Patricia and Kristina for sharing TATI’s generosities with thoughtful care and ease throughout the process. HeARTy Cheers to strengthening connections, collaborations, collective care and co-learning in community.
