Connecting Hands & Creating Legacy. Moments. Meg.

Moments with My Beautiful Mom.

Sharing a connecting hands story that includes three of my favourite people - Mom, Dave and Meghan. As Mom and I encountered a rollercoaster ride in 2024 immersed in the emotional ups and downs of a declining health journey and several scares, we paused for a beautiful summer afternoon of creativity and giggles. My mom had beat the odds and rallied for some more gifted time together!

The world is brighter when we’re holding hands and facing it together

Our legacy hand project became a team effort project, as Meg supported us with the plaster casting of our hands, while Dave documented the process and the moments.

During the entire casting process Mom found it all quite fascinating and amusing, while not exactly understanding what the end product might be based on this unfamiliar process! However, my mother had complete faith in my/AKA artsie-april’s master plan. As she has always been interested and incredibly supportive of all my creative and sometimes unusual art adventures. In her own way, my Mom has been a patron of the arts, whether attending art exhibits and theatre performances with her friends or being a dancer for many years.

Such gratitude to lovely Meghan for making this all happen for us!!

The best memories are made with our hands intertwined and hearts aligned

As Mom celebrates another year, that we were not expecting to have together (how blessed am!!!), I thought “let’s share this story with my creative community, and maybe encourage or inspire others to explore ways to create legacy art with their loved ones if they are able. Always being mindful from my lived experience that we don’t always have these opportunities.”

Hand in hand, we’ll create a legacy of laughter and love.

As spring arrives and we are having more days of sunshine and warmth, I look forward to time outdoors and witnessing nature and garden transformations and more meaningful moments with all those I connect with. Wishing the same joys for those who read this post...

…the DNA summer garden 2024 - looking forward to 2025’s iteration :)
