Creative Connections is an art therapy collective based in Hamilton, Ontario. We are passionate about co-constructing creative communities where inclusion, discovery, and continued growth may take place. We are also excited to collaborate with other local creatives, and the story of our logo is one such partnership.

We fell in love with artist and designer Jenna Gregory’s work years ago. Jenna is known for her doodle-style drawings and graphic paintings, and we are sure most Hamiltonians have enjoyed her work at music festivals and in local galleries and shops, not to mention in their homes (as original artwork, cards and prints). Her doodles, especially, feel instantly relatable and it is hard not to let their positivity bring a smile to your face. In choosing a creative to design our logo, we knew working with Jenna would be a wonderful opportunity.

We wanted to capture the essence of our collective—creative engagement and relationship-building--using symbols, colour and movement. Jenna mocked up digital sketches, we made notes and hand-drew our ideas, and the process seemed to repeat in this way until the spirit of Creative Connections was captured.

We love the references to tree rings (growth rings), a painter’s palette, and a hand supporting another. The typefaces are complementary and the whole form seems to flow in and out of itself, complete with whimsical moments. We thank Jenna for her tireless efforts in what was, from the initial brainstorming sketches to the final image, a long journey but a truly collaborative one.

As Creative Connections continues to develop (website coming soon!), we are thrilled to have a beautiful logo to represent us. We look forward to future connections and collaborations with our community and are grateful to acknowledge Jenna Gregory as one of our first creative partners.
