Autumn Photo-Triptychs - Creative Prompt

Creative Prompt: Autumn Photo-Triptych

Invitation.

In such a colourful season… relax, explore your surroundings and create an autumn narrative through photo collages…
Creating an art story from a layered image can become an interesting personal art project to explore - especially within the framework of a triptych.

What do you feel like exploring through this photo prompt today?
… the essence of your experience in nature?
… the colours, textures, patterns and/or forms of nature?
… yourself …‘being’ in an outdoor space… having an I AM HERE moment?!
… an emerging narrative: lived, imagined, remembered… wished for?

Creating photo collages can encourage you to pause when out in nature to look for interesting elements, natural compositions and visual story settings, and provide the seeds to grow an emerging story or reflective journey.

Additional Invitation: ‘TITLE’ your photo collage upon completion, viewing and reflection.

Materials.

A camera is all that is required to begin this creative prompt.
Photo collages and triptychs can be created with CANVA.
(Another program mentioned in one of the posts below is PIC COLLAGE)

Triptych art is made up of three pieces or panels. Often used to impart narrative, create a sequence, or show different elements of the same subject matter, since its conception, the triptych has continued to add a new dimension to visual art. The triptych is also used to split a single piece of art into three, or to combine three pieces into one.

‘GLOWING’ …capturing the gorgeous COLOURS of these autumn trees at RBG

The power of triptych art lies in its ability to work as a coherent piece, as well as three separate works of art.

‘MOMENTS’… enjoying Roxy in her outdoor space

From its religious symbolism, to its ability to aptly contain the beginning, middle and end of a plot, three pieces can work to accommodate a number of motifs, from balance and pattern to story and meaning.

‘DIAMOND VIEW’… exploring design and composition in these bridge photos

‘TREE OF LIFE’ …playful moment being within ‘nature as space’

‘CLOAKED’ …meditative moment being in the stillness and with awe

‘JOURNEY’

Like other photo art, triptychs can serve as tangible legacy pieces saved for future viewing and sharing, or revisited later to connect ourselves with past experiences or memories that inform our present.

The term triptych comes from the Greek word ‘triptykhos’, which translates to mean ‘three-layered’.
