“I Am Here.” Creative Prompt

Blog Prompts -I am Here.jpg

I AM HERE … being present and in the moment and connecting to nature … beauty ... colour … self.

Occasionally, I take pictures of my feet planted in nature - somewhere where a beautiful experience and connection is happening, and where being present is nurturing, rejuvenating and can inspire awe and gratitude.

At other times I just experience nature as a witness, whether from a contemplative and reflective gaze, or born out of the desire for a nurturing and much needed distraction from ruminating thoughts, exhaustion and/or draining and tricky life situations.

To live in the present moment is a miracle. The miracle is not to walk on water. The miracle is to walk on the green earth in the present moment, to appreciate the peace and beauty that are available now.

Creative Prompt: “I am Here.”

Invitation.

Capturing snapshots of our feet firmly planted on the ground can connect us to ourselves and the land on which we are standing. It can gently remind us to be present in that moment in time and/or grateful and aware that we are part of something much bigger than ourselves.

This project can be used to explore the colours, textures, patterns and forms of nature as we position our feet within the framed lens of the camera screen. Nature then ‘paints’ these beautiful backdrops on which we place ourselves. This ongoing art project can provide prompts to look for interesting compositions and visual story settings where our feet become a form within that compositional frame or provide a narrative element of an emerging story or journey.

There is also a tangible legacy piece with the ‘I Am Here’ photo art project as images can be saved for future viewing and sharing, or revisited later to connect ourselves with past experiences or memories that inform our present.

Materials.

A camera is all that is required for this creative prompt. Creating an art story from photos can become an interesting personal art project to explore.
