Tania shares her recent painted postcards series where she explores life junctures, personal and philosophical wonderings; held in the magic of transformative states of nature and being. Through these sequential creations she has captured her recent life journeys with resonating moments and meaning - shared through dynamic colours and mark making, and woven with powerful symbolic imagery. Tania recently had her art work on display in Ottawa and expressed such gratitude for the meaningful conversations and connections made with those who viewed and engaged with her work.
Thank you Tania for sharing your tiny treasures. For someone who was a ballet dancer for many years in my youth, I connect with the energetic presence each piece holds. Attuning to a felt sense of movement, story and captured posing of the trees and grasses, I’m responsive to viewing and reflecting upon your art. Even the work surfaces in the photos show the engaged energy of your creative process.
“I don’t plan my pieces - I usually start with a colour, feeling, or particular interaction/memory in nature. I’m always surprised how symbolism comes through the creative process.”
Tania’s Story
I created these postcard paintings as a way to process my move to Montreal, my life experiences, and connect me more deeply to the plants, trees, and natural world around me. Painting my daily experiences among the trees created meaning and purpose when life felt confusing, overwhelming, and uncertain. They supported me and helped light the way when the path forward was unclear.
