Noticing. Spring, Sunlight and Shadows. Creative Prompt.

All the variety, all the charm, all the beauty of life is made up of light and shadow.

Creative Prompt: “Noticing. Spring. Sunlight and Shadows.”

Invitation to Notice.

This creative prompt is a gentle invitation to notice the spring alongside the light and shadows of new and old growth in their interwoven and symbiotic relationship. Can you pause and notice with wonder this transformative season?…

Be still… be curious… be present.. take time…notice

As you connect with your senses here are some prompts to encourage engaging with nature and spring

Notice
• the warmth of sunlight on your face
• your feet planted firmly on the ground
• the movement of a gentle and crisp breeze
• earthy, fresh and fragrant scents as you slowly inhale
• the subdued and muted colours of a gently awakening landscape
• dry and fragile leaves blanketing the soil and protecting the tender spring plants and rejuvenating roots
• the delicate and majestic twigs of past seasons casting gentle shadows
• new growth peaking out of their dark and quiet winter caves
• the vibrant colour bursts of new spring buds and greenery
• the bright blues of a sun-filled sky illuminating all of these gifts of nature
• the many many shades of spring-time greens

Reflect upon
How does spring make you feel?
What are the words that come to mind in spring?
Do you feel grounded?
Does your energy level change or shift in spring?

Materials.

• You, outdoors, sunlight, and time to be present and aware
• art and/or writing materials if you feel inspired to create, reflect or jot down thoughts and words - capturing the colours, sensations and energy of spring
• and/or a camera for documenting these moments

In my home in the forrest
I dance in misty shadows set by trees,
mimic the rhythm of the leaves,
and in childhood unfolding seasons
adapt easily to periods of mystery.
— Ellen Elizabeth Stout • From the Poem: 'Moving Shadows'

Relax and notice the shadows cast around you. Do you have any shadow photos to share, and/or quotes or resources to add to this post? Let me know if you do by contacting me here.
