We want stories. In stories we connect, in stories we learn, in stories we are human … We are together, we are the same, we are connected beyond race and class and gender.
— Isabel Allende

Welcome to the Blog.

This blog section was started to create a connecting and shared creative space on my website for those interested in art and art therapy where art stories, prompts and ideas, general art therapy information and self care suggestions could inspire and engage others in their creative journeys.

Information provided in this blog is for creative exploration, reflection, general learning and self care only.

Creativity.

A creative narrative is everywhere when we are present, listen and become story hunters … from capturing a moment in time, a personal reflection or response as witness, guide or participant, to curating creative experiences, facilitating others and one’s own complete immersion into various forms of expression and art making.

You can’t use up creativity. The more you use the more you have.
— Maya Angelou

Sharing Stories.

‘Stories’ showcases makers and creators through their meaningful art experiences and personal narratives. When we expand our view of art everyone has a creative story … whether describing a brief moment, a memory, a sensation or feeling, the creative process itself or a developing and evolving narrative or art piece.

I think everything in life is art. What you do. How you dress. The way you love someone and how you talk. Your smile and your personality. What you believe in and all your dreams. The way you drink your tea. How you decorate your home. Or party. Your grocery list. The food you make. How your writing looks. And the way you feel. Life is art.

Art Therapy. A Brief Overview.

Art therapy uses art as a means of personal exploration and expression. Through the use of this creative process, art therapy enables individuals to express feelings and thoughts both verbally and/or nonverbally. Emphasis is not on producing “good art” but rather on exploring new and meaningful ways of self-expression. Within this relational therapeutic modality the supportive presence of a facilitator, witness and guide are key for personal growth, healing and reparation. If you are interested in learning more about art therapy services please email me at Creative Connections or connect with me via the ‘Contact’ page. More information about art therapy, my background, organizations and training can be found on the ‘About’ and ‘Resources’ pages, and under the ‘Art Therapy’ tab in my Blog section.
